Eli Hausman

During a family trip to Ireland in 2015, using his mom’s old Nikon, Hausman discovered a deep passion for photography. Dedicating his life to the craft ever since, Hausman was head photographer for both his high school yearbook and newspaper where in 2019 he received first place for feature photo, second place for news photo, and an honorable mention for sports photo at the at NCSMA (North Carolina Scholastic Media Association) awards. After graduating high school from the International Baccalauereate program, Hausman made the brave decision to study photography on the other side of the country at Montana State University.

Learning everything from 35mm film, medium format, view camera, darkroom development/printing, alternative processes, large format digital printing, bookmaking, and more, Hausman’s four years at Montana State University were invaluable. For all four of those years, Hausman worked for the department at their equipment checkout. Quickly climbing the ranks to Equipment Checkout Leader, Hausman was responsible for training new staff and running the photography facilities on campus which include large format digital photo printers, darkrooms, darkroom chemicals, camera equipment, and photo and video studios. In his last two years he was also certified and responsible for mixing monochromatic and color chemistry for analog processing. After graduating with honors in Spring of 2023, Hausman returned home to Charlotte, NC to begin his career beyond college, although he has been in the professional field for some time.

In the summer of 2021, Hausman was the first photography intern and the youngest intern ever at Wray Ward and spent eight weeks working under their director of photography, Justin Smith. He has a continued relationship with Wray Ward where he has worked alongside their production team and major companies such as General Electric, Rack Room Shoes, Huber, and more.

He has also been published in multiple publications for Cafe Racer Magazine and North Carolina Fish and Wildlife. Beyond magazines, Hausman has also had the joy of working alongside other local agencies and companies listed below.

Today, Hausman is working as an Assistant Camera and Media Manager for National Geographic on the set of ‘Port Protection Alaska’.
